Kronan Nature Reserve

There's a special feeling when hiking in the Kronan Nature Reserve—the canopies of deciduous trees create a ceiling that gives it a fairytale and mystical ambiance. Perhaps that's why Carl von Linné often visited the place.

This is where Carl von Linné grew up with his father Nils, who was a pastor. Nils had a famous garden where Carl might have gained inspiration for Systema Naturae. At the old vicarage site in Stenbrohult, you'll find Järda Springhorn's statue of the young Linné, erected in 1948.

Lille Petter Johan's Cottage - Fairy Tale Country

Cottage houses are often small, but this one is so low in ceiling height that most visitors can't stand up straight. It was the home of shoemaker Lille Petter Johan (1875-1952), who, like Linné, was of short stature. Linné himself reached a height of only 154 cm.

Virestad Local Heritage Park

The local heritage park in Virestad is located right in the middle of the village, just a few minutes' walk from the church. Linné's sister, Anna-Maria, was the pastor's wife in the nearby church.

Taxås Nature Reserve

According to legend, Carl von Linné went to Taxås Mountain to see the Night Violet. He couldn't find his way back home, so his father had to search for him.

Möckelsnäs Nature Reserve

In the beautiful nature of Möckelsnäs, Linné often took walks. Did you know that it was here he tasted coffee and sugar for the first time?
