hhapn transforms locally sourced waste into desirable home products. The project explores how thoughtful design, material experimentation, and local collaboration can give discarded materials a new purpose and change how people perceive waste.
The idea
hhapn is a design-led circular initiative that transforms locally sourced waste into desirable home products. The project explores how thoughtful design, material experimentation, and local collaboration can give discarded materials a new purpose and change how people perceive waste. Instead of seeing waste as something to hide or simply manage, Shobini and Abishek treat it as a starting point for new ideas, objects, and stories. By working with materials found around them and designing within the region, they aim to make circular living feel more tangible, relatable, and engaging. Their vision is simple: making waste desirable.
The team
Shobini works across innovation, research, storytelling, and creative direction. She is drawn to places that appreciate people for who they are and what they bring, and she enjoys noticing art, small glimmers in everyday life, and the stories hidden in ordinary things.
Abishek is a maker at heart, with a background in industrial design, product development, prototyping, and manufacturing. He enjoys understanding how things work, exploring materials, and turning ideas into physical products.
They have been designing together for nearly eight years and are especially interested in sustainability, materials, and the role products play in everyday life.
The reason to join
Shobini and Abishek applied because they want to build something together and develop hhapn in a more professional and structured way, as a real and sustainable business rather than only a creative project. They see the value of being surrounded by people on a similar journey, as they believe learning grows when experiences, challenges, and ideas are shared.
They find the connection to Älmhult and the surrounding Småland region inspiring, as it has a strong culture of making and product development. Through the incubator, they aim to make hhapn sustainable not only environmentally, but also financially and practically, so it can grow into something they can continue building together over time.
