Homie explores how existing objects can be given a new life at home. Inspired by their experience running a curated home project in Guatemala, Mónica (together with her co-founder Rocío) are interested in developing more accessible and practical ways to reuse, repair, and transform what already exists.

Homie explores how existing objects can be given a new life at home. Inspired by their experience running a curated home project in Guatemala, Mónica and Rocío are interested in developing more accessible and practical ways to reuse, repair, and transform what already exists. Starting from one context, they aim to explore how these ideas can evolve across others over time.

The team

Homie is developed by both Mónica and Rocío, two designers whose paths move between Guatemala and Sweden. They first met while working together in Guatemala and now bring perspectives from two different contexts.

While Rocío continues to work within the design field in Guatemala, Mónica is pursuing a master’s in innovation in Sweden and will combine her studies with participating in Home of the Home Lab. Together, they share an interest in everyday life, making, and how existing things can be given a new life at home.

The reason to join

Mónica applied to Home of the Home Lab because she and her co-founder believe ideas grow through experimentation, community, and different perspectives. With roots in Guatemala, they see opportunities for Homie to grow as Mónica, through the incubator, continues to build connections in Sweden.

As a team, they see the programme as an opportunity to gain clarity around the business model and develop an early stage of the service while learning alongside others on similar journeys.
