Fiber optic network and its cables consist of thin transparent threads made of glass. There are laser diodes on each end of such a cable blinking in time with signals being sent. This means that data is sent via light instead of electricity as it is in copper cables.
Further this light transforms into electric signals. Sending light rays through the glass makes it possible to transmit large volumes of information on long distances at the speed of light.
Our network is “open”
The network in our municipality is a so-called open network which means that any provider willing to join is welcome to offer its services in here. This makes it possible for you as a customer to choose between all the providers present as well as between different speeds they offer.
