Transformation expert Swapnil Choudhari: ‘There is no more five-year plan’
On 12 March, Swapnil Choudhari from Electrolux Professional Group spent the afternoon with us. He gave his talk ‘Leading others and organisations through transformation’ and we had a chat with him about the power of conversation, how transformation is based on belief and the potential that Älmhult holds as a place for entrepreneurship.

Swapnil Choudhari is a global leader who calls Älmhult home and is one of the coaches at Home of the Home Lab. He is Group Vice President of Sustainability and Quality at Electrolux Professional Group and has lived in Älmhult for eleven years. He first moved here when Electrolux Professional brought their global R&D centres together. At the time, he worked in Thailand as Head of R&D for Asia Pacific. When the company asked him to take on a global role, the family relocated.
My children were studying in an international school in Thailand. When we moved, we wanted them to continue that for at least a couple of years. The only international school available close to Ljungby was Älmhult International School, and that is how we ended up here.
Even though he now has a new role and the children have grown up, Älmhult has remained home.
A coaching style built on conversation
Swapnil discovered the incubator by chance, but the idea of getting involved was immediate. He is now one of the coaches in the programme.
When I read about Home of the Home Lab, my first impression was very good. Being a mentor is not about teaching. You share your experience with people who want to change something, and at the same time, you can learn so much from them.
When asked about his tools or methods, Swapnil smiled.
The tool is “conversation”. People get stuck because of a thought process that anchors them. You just need to unlock that thought. Once you unlock it, people move.
Transformation that starts with people – and the death of the five-year plan
In a private interview right before his keynote, Swapnil spoke about what makes organisations transform successfully.
The main difference between those who transform and those who cling to the past is belief. It is not about tools or processes. It starts with individuals who are willing to shift what they believe.
He also shared his thoughts about how global disruptions have changed the way organisations plan.
There is no more five-year plan. Every year brings a new disruption. Organisations need to perform today and be ready for tomorrow, all while believing they can reinvent themselves with every disruption.
Älmhult as a place for ideas to grow
Swapnil also reflected on what makes Sweden and Älmhult an interesting place for entrepreneurship.
Sweden has been a pioneer in innovation for centuries. The passion has shifted a bit, but the opportunity is still strong. I strongly believe in the new generations and in Sweden’s potential to scale up innovations by using better data and partnering up with other countries like India.
Looking at the ideas emerging inside Home of the Home Lab, he sees a beautiful opportunity.
Älmhult is the birthplace of IKEA. It is already an innovative place. With the ideas growing inside Home of the Home Lab, this is just the beginning.
A day filled with insight and direction – thank you Swapnil!
Having Swapnil with us as a keynote speaker added depth, clarity and a warm sense of connection to both Älmhult and the wider world as our group of participants finished the first step in the incubation programme.
His message was simple and human: A reminder that belief matters. That conversations matter. And that ideas grow when people dare to shift what they believe is possible.
