MYP Teachers Visit the International School of Lund

At the beginning of this term, our IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) teachers participated in a professional study visit to the International School of Lund.

During the visit, they met with teachers from the host school as well as colleagues from another international school in Lund. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen collaboration between schools and to exchange professional experiences related to teaching and assessment within the MYP framework.

Strong Professional Exchange

The visit provided valuable opportunities for subject-specific discussions and professional dialogue. The conversations confirmed strong alignment between the schools in terms of curriculum planning, assessment practices, teaching strategies, and shared expectations for student learning.

Teachers also recognised a consistent approach to the teaching of ATL skills (Approaches to Learning) and to ensuring that assessment criteria are clear and transparent for students. Teaching practices were identified as age-appropriate, creative, and purposeful, and the schools’ inclusive and supportive learning environments were highlighted as a shared strength.

It was extremely valuable to exchange ideas with colleagues from other IB schools. The visit both confirmed the strength of our programme and inspired new ideas to further develop our teaching, says Maria Haglund, rektor.

Inspiration for Future Collaboration

The discussions generated several practical ideas for further developing unit planning and teaching practices. Our teachers returned inspired and confident in their work. There is a shared ambition to continue this collaboration as an annual exchange, with the possibility of hosting a similar visit in Älmhult next year.
