Do you get satisfaction from seeing children, young people and adults develop? Do you like engaging with people with differing needs? Would you like to develop your leadership role? If so, the Child Development & Recreation Programme is for you.

Choose the Child Development & Recreation Programme and open the door to a world of exciting work with people of all ages. The programme will give you knowledge and skills in pedagogical theory, psychology, sociology and service. You will also read subjects that are studied in all lines of Gymnasium (upper secondary school); English, history, sport & health, natural science, social studies and Swedish.

The Child Development & Recreation Programme is a vocational programme, but you can also opt for courses that will give you basic eligibility for higher education. Parts of your course will be based at one or several workplaces for no less than 15 weeks.

The workplace-based elements of the course form a very valuable part of your education. There, you will acquire unique experiences and important contacts for your future professional life. You will have priority for holiday work at preschools and leisure-time centres in the Municipality of Älmhult.

Our orientation is towards pedagogical theory and social activities, with particular focus on leadership and communication.

What career options will you have?
On completion of your studies, you will obtain a professional qualification and will be able to start out on your career path right away. If you chose the higher education route, you will have acquired the basic eligibility for studying at an institute of higher education. Examples of jobs on completion of studies: childcare worker in preschools, classroom assistant in schools and other positions in out-of-school centres.
