Welcome to Sweden and Älmhult! As a newcomer in Sweden, you might need help settling down in your new environment.
It is important that you learn Swedish, if you do not already speak the language. Courses teaching Swedish for immigrants ("Vägen in") is offered at Älmhult's centre for adult and upper secondary-level education, Haganässkolan. You may also need to supplement your existing professional knowledge with Swedish job-training courses. Our refugee coordination officers will be happy to help you find your way. You find their contact information on the left side of the page. We also offer an introduction to the Swedish society and public authorities. The target groups for this introduction are immigrants and refugees with a resident permit — children as well as adults — being registered as residents in the municipality of Älmhult.
